TORONTO -- This morning Toronto Police held a press conference to announce information on an inter-provincial operation codenamed “Project Sizzle” which apprehended many accused criminals.
On display were a collection of guns, weapons, drugs and money confiscated in a series of raids conducted throughout the operation.
Toronto Chief of Police Mark Saunders and Inspector Bryan Bott said that a total of 285 charges were laid against the 42 of the 53 men and women, aged 19-41, who were arrested in Toronto, Mississauga, Oakville, Brampton, Hamilton, Vaughn and Etobicoke, in Ontario.
Also among the arrested were people from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia as well as Lachine, Lasalle, and Montreal, Quebec.
Charges laid against numerous people were mainly weapons and drug related, ranging from fail to comply, to multiple counts of first degree murder.
Homicide & other investigations continue with charges pending as a result of Project Sizzle.
Police are still looking for two suspects involved in a brazen 9:30 a.m. shooting thought to be connected to Project Sizzle. The shooting nearly took the life of a Toronto man, and police have released the video below to aid them in locating the suspect.
