FOOD -- Greetings from my kitchen, it’s your friend Chef Dave.
I’ve never considered myself to have a favourite type of cuisine.
Whether I’m cooking from home, or enjoying a meal out, I never have a go-to cuisine that is always being craved by my palate.
However, at the top of my list for a cuisine that’s versatile, adaptable, and packs so much flavour that it’s always exciting to eat when I’m dining out or cooking at home, I look to Mexican.
There’s so much you can do with the food from the comfort of your own home, and there are restaurants in practically every city that have a different take on the classic foods you know and love.
One of these restaurants that I happen to frequent when I feel like enjoying some great quality Mexican food is Los Cabos Cantina & Grill in Whitby.
Located at 1009 Dundas St. E, Los Cabos has all the feel of an inviting California surf bar, that serves up great drinks, and traditional style Mexican fare.
The staff are friendly, and the owners are always around chatting with the customers and even spending some time in the kitchen.
From the minute you walk in you’re greeted by the fantastic aroma coming from the kitchen, and once you sit down you’re given homemade salsa and chips.
The menu is extensive and covers everything you could possibly hope to see coming from a restaurant serving Mexican food with a twist.
Whether you’re a purist and always go for tacos and burritos, or like to change things up with a twist on some classic food, then this is the place for you.
My personal favourite when I spend my time dining here is the Ensenada Enchiladas, a soft tortilla filled with your choice of meat or veggies – my usual order includes the carnitas (pork) – it’s then covered with a delicious sauce and cheese, and served with refried beans, rice and salad.
The food never leaves you hungry, but it does encourage your palate to want more.
One bite will have you making this your preferred Mexican restaurant to dine at in Durham Region, and as someone who has fallen under the spell of Los Cabos, you won’t regret making the trip to fill your cravings.
Eating here will never break the bank either with meals ranging from the $9.99 – $17.99 price range, and delectable desserts under $6.
The restaurant also offers a range of daily specials, including Taco Tuesday where you can get hunger-busting sized tacos for only $2.50.
In all, with its amazing food, and fun atmosphere Los Cabos Cantina & Grill should be your next stop when you’re craving a bite of Mexican cuisine.
I hope that I’ve helped you decide whether to dine at Los Cabos, and I sincerely hope that you enjoy your visit if you do.
Until next time my foodie enthusiasts, enjoy your dining experiences with family and friends.
FOOD -- Greetings from my kitchen, I’m Chef Dave.
I love food in all forms. There’s not much better than the food you can create with your own hands, and the therapeutic feelings you get while doing it.
But even a busy chef like myself can’t deny a simple fact:
Dining out is a wonderful experience that, when shared, can become some of the best moments you’ll carry through a lifetime.
The Canadian network has all but eliminated the how-to cooking shows and replaced them with food competition and travel shows
FOOD -- Remember when the Food Network Canada use to teach you how to cook?
It wasn’t that long ago when you could turn on the channel at any hour of the day and watch one of many personalities, and professional chefs walk you through how to prepare a variety of meals that would boost your cooking skills, and introduce your family to new creations.
