Hello, I live in Italy.
Passing through depression and anxiety. My mood swings in seconds. No one tries to understand me, just say not to fall in depression.
It’s not anything that I can control. Help me please, it’s like hell.
My friends invite me to go out with them but I refuse. Don't feel hungry. Losing weight. Sleepless nights without medicines. I am not rich person and can't even spend enough money to visit psychologist.
In Canada we have organizations that are FREE that people can join who suffer from a mental illness. There are drop in centers or we can get on a waiting list for a Social Worker.
Please, please, please find out if there is something similar in Italy.
It is important that you have a reason to get up every day. That reason could be to participate in a group for people with depression & anxiety. In Canada we have a group called “Support for Depression.”
This kind of group really helped me when I was depressed. If you can afford it, get a pet.
Pets can be very therapeutic. Even a fish or bird would be good as they need to be fed and cared for. Find some where to volunteer. Maybe you have a hospital near you or a shelter for homeless people or single woman.
When you help someone else it helps to get your mind off your own problems. Speak to your family doctor about your problems. He/she may have some recommendations about where you can get help.
Explain to your friends that as much as you want to join them, your depression and anxiety makes it difficult for you to enjoy life. If they are real friends they may come to visit you. You could go for a short walk with them. It is important to get out of your house/apartment every day even if it is only for a few minutes.
You will have to “go through the motions” and force yourself to do one or two of the things I suggest.
Congratulate yourself on small accomplishments. If you go for a 20 minute walk, then give yourself a small reward. It might be watching a favorite TV show, buying a new book or making yourself your favorite dinner.
“The Journey of 1000 miles begins with one small step.” Take one small step every day.
